Kickoff.com reported that Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says Isaac Nhlapo was signed on a pre-contract from Platinum Stars in case fellow centre-back Rivaldo Coetzee leaves at the end of the season.
Ajax yesterday confirmed Nhlapo will move to Ikamva ahead of 2017/18 as uncertainty surrounds the future of in-demand Bafana Bafana international Coetzee.
“We know Rivaldo can go because there is interest in him, so we are thinking ahead not only of replacing but also if something happens to the four at the back,” says Menzo.
“It’s not easy to find central defenders so at the moment there is one free, so let’s not hesitate and catch him as soon as possible.”
Coetzee, who has prioritised a move to Europe but has not ruled out a local switch, has three years left on his contract with the Urban Warriors.
