Ajax Cape Town need win to move away from the relegation zone

Bloemfontein Celtic will look to end their run of draws in the Absa Premiership when they host Ajax Cape Town at Dr Molemela Stadium on 17 December 2016, kick-off at 18h00.
Celtic racked up a third successive league draw when they held Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 away on December 14.

The Bloemfontein side has claimed five points from six home matches this season.

Phunya Sele Sele are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from as many matches.

Ajax suffered their seventh defeat of the season when they were beaten 2-1 at Highlands Park on December 14.

The Cape Town side has claimed five points from six away matches this season.

The Urban Warriors are placed 13th on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from 13 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Ajax and Celtic have met in 28 league matches since 1999/2000.

The Urban Warriors have 11 wins compared to 10 for Phunya Sele Sele, while seven matches have been drawn.

Celtic have won nine of their 14 home league matches against Ajax, suffering two defeats in the process.

Last season Phunya Sele Sele took four points off the Urban Warriors, drawing 2-2 in Cape Town before claiming a 5-0 win in the return game in Bloemfontein.

The teams’ last three league meetings have produced 14 goals.
