Toriq Losper says he has been hurt by fans questioning his commitment to Ajax Cape Town.
The 24-year-old was recently transfer-listed and excluded from the club’s pre-season camp in George.
Ajax coach Roger de Sa last week said Losper was in a contractual dispute with management, with the player having a year left on his deal at Ikamva.
Urban Warriors CEO Ari Efstathiou previously said the attacking midfielder was being affected by “outside pressures”.
“First things first, one must remember there’s always two sides to a story. There were precedents set in the past with regards to players signing pre-contracts,” Losper tells KickOff.com.
“I’m no different. Be that as it may, it hurts me too when fans come up to me and question my loyalty. I kept quiet because it’s in the best interest.
“Besides I wasn’t the one that wanted to be placed on the transfer-list. But it’s important to clear the air and to make the fans understand where I’m coming from as well.
“Where does it leave me ultimately if we can’t find common ground? That said Ajax is still close to my heart. The love for the red and white will remain in my heart.”
IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE KICK-OFF ARTICLE
Although Kick-off are quoting Mogammed Toriq Losper as saying his hurt by the fans questioning his commitment, the true Urban Warriors have backed him fully in staying at the club and resolve the contractual situation.
His a player who gives his all on the pitch. With the wholesale changes already this off season and the quality he presents to Ajax Cape Town, it would be an unwise move to lose a player of his capabilities.
