Anssi says that Ajax Cape Town have a few youngsters that will easily make the step up to European football.
Jaakkola made a huge impression at the Urban Warriors in his three seasons at the club, and his departure to the English Championship to work under Jaap Stam has opened up a place for the first-team gloves at the Premiership side.
However, the Finland international says he has no worries as his potential replacements, Jody February and Brandon Petersen, are fully capable of stepping in comfortably if called upon by manager Roger De Sa.
“I think for their ages, they have amazing capabilities and to think that they are only 20 and 21 only,” he told
Goal.com website .
“I think both of them are equally ready and any one deserves the number one jersey, I have absolute faith in them.
“They are both fully matured and can step up at any time on request.”
The former Kilmarnock stopper also highlighted the ability of three other youngsters that left an impression on him during his time in the Mother City.
“I think both of them [February and Petersen] have very bright futures and I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it to Europe.
“The others that I think will go far in their careers, I think Lartey [Lawrence] is a typical defender, he has amazing ability. Rivaldo [Coetzee] as well, for him to be in his national team already at his age says a lot.
“The other one is Tashreeq Morris, I think he is a fantastic footballer.”
