Ajax Cape Town utility player Abbubaker Mobara told Sandile Mazibuko he is happy at receiving his second Bafana Bafana team call up.
Mobara is currently in camp with Shakes Mashaba’s men to prepare for the tournment which got underway in Windhoek, Namibia on Saturday.
Bafana will only join the Cosafa Cup competition from the quarter-finals next week where they are expected to face a winner from Group B which contains Angola, Malawi, Lesotho and Mauritius.
Mobara says despite Mashaba and Owen da Gama’s decision to revolve their squad picking around players that will most likely be in the squad going to the Rio Olympic Games in August, they are not thinking ahead themselves.
“Firstly, I am truly honoured to be here. I grateful to have been called up to the senior national team,” Mobara said.
“I really love representing my country and I am excited to be here.
“Obviously, we’ve been working hard and we are looking forward to the challenge ahead and we would love to make the country proud.”
“We are obviously aware that the team is based on the core of the U-23 players which is preparation for the Olympics, but we not going to get ahead ourselves because this cup is also equally important to the country and we want to give it our best shot.”
